Mackinac Island Lilac Festival Theme
Classic Saturday Morning Cartoons have been chosen as the theme for the 2008 Lilac Festival. The Saturday Morning Cartoon is the term for all American animated television programming scheduled on Saturday mornings from the 1960s to the 1990s and is often referred to by its critics as "illustrated radio" because of its focus on voice, music and sound effects. THE EARLY SHOW (7am-9am weekdays) was on Island June 22 to film segments with Weather Anchor Dave Price. He filmed at Fort Mackinac, Cindy's Riding Stable, Professor Harry's Old Time Photos, Orr Kids Bikes, Murdick's Fudge and the Mackinac Bridge. Also, the show will be filming their final Great American Vacation episode on the Island to air on August 23rd from Grand Hotel...stay tuned for more information.
